MAGIC 2010 Organisers & Argon RoboticsThe Australian Government Defence Science & Technology Organisation (DSTO) and the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) have joined forces to launch a competition to advance the development the next generation of robotic technology. MAGIC 2010 short for Multi Autonomous Ground-robotic International Challenge will be focused to spur the development of the next generation of robotic technology. To attract innovative proposals from worldwide research organisations to develop next-generation fully autonomous ground vehicle systems that can be deployed effectively in military operations and civilian emergency situations.

This competition has arrived at an interesting and ideal time for Argon Robotics, building on its recent investment and technology development focus in the area. Key Argon representatives attended the MAGIC 2010 briefing in South Australia today along with a large list of key educational and industry players. The day was informative, interesting and ultimately a large success, with key representatives from Australia's leading robotics research institutions coming together.

The coming months will see Argon enhance its Defence Robotics technology team and business line, forming strategic alliances and partnerships to enhance capacity and reduce development timelines. The parallel commercial opportunities that will realise as a result of the competitions technology focus is seen to be a key future market for the larger Argon group.
